A Mozart written classic, The Magic Flute is a fantastical tale set in a world where the forces of day and night, light and darkness, are constantly in tension. The story follows Prince Tamino, who is thrust into a mysterious and shadowy land after a harrowing encounter. Rescued by enigmatic figures, he is soon caught between opposing powers: the alluring yet dangerous Queen of Night and the wise, sunlit ruler Sarastro.

As Tamino embarks on a quest filled with magical instruments and mystical trials, he navigates a landscape where nothing is as it seems. Accompanied by the whimsical bird-catcher Papageno, he must decipher who truly represents good and evil in this world of shifting allegiances. The journey challenges his understanding of truth and wisdom, leading him through dark forests and sacred temples, where the line between night and day blurs.

At the heart of this adventure lies a deep exploration of light and darkness—not just as physical elements, but as symbols of knowledge, power, and love. The climax of the story unfolds in a dramatic struggle between these forces, with Tamino’s destiny hanging in the balance. Ultimately, The Magic Flute is a tale of transformation, where the journey from darkness to light reveals the true nature of the characters and the world they inhabit.

This tale is a perfect production to be featured during the LUMA projection arts festival given its dynamic story and use of light versus dark.  The performance will be an adapted 1 hour event presented in English.  Our international production team is incorporating fantastical lighting into the projection based storytelling on stage for a never before seen production of the classic, The Magic Flute!
