Pianist and conductor Eric David Frei is an accomplished opera coach. Having recently completed his master’s degree in Opera Coaching at Florida State University, Eric accompanied the main stage opera productions that included Don Giovanni, The Rake’s Progress, Street Scene, and Roméo et Juliette as well as music directing a variety of scenes in opera workshop. Under the guidance and mentorship of Douglas Fisher, Eric music directed Suor Angelica, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Handel’s Apollo and Daphne, and Dominick Argento’s Postcard from Morocco. Since 2012, Eric has spent his summers as a staff accompanist and coach at the Seagle Music Colony in upstate New York. At Seagle, he music directed Lerner and Lowe’s Camelot as well as the touring children’s operas. Additionally, Eric served as the pianist for Seagle’s Così fan tutte, Street Scene, Forty-Second Street, L’italiana in Algeri, and Il barbiere di Siviglia. Eric has also worked with First Coast Opera in St. Augustine, Florida, coaching and accompanying their production of Don Giovanni, while also being invited back as a recitalist this past May.
