· The Written Word

Monday, July 25, 2016, 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm
On-stage letters or letter writing is often confusing to follow as an audience member. Follow the letters in La traviata. See how librettists and composers dealt with letters in The Marriage of Figaro, Werther, and other opera gems.

Hear some of the poetry of Allen Ginsberg and join the conversation about what makes it relevant for the 21st century despite being considered controversial and counter-cultural in the 20th century.

· The Parent Trap

Monday, August 1, 2016, 12:00 noon- 1:00 pm
The relationships between parents and children are often difficult, fractured, or comedic in opera. Father and son. Young children and their parents. We see those in the TCO 16/17 season. But think about the mother/daughter relationship in The Magic Flute. Or father/daughter in Don Giovanni and Rigoletto. All interesting familial relationships.

· Infidelity & Sexuality

Thursday, August 18, 2016, 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm
Well, you could say that these are hallmarks of just about every opera! But let’s explore them through the lens of L’heure espagnole & Brettl Lieder. Slip in some Carmen, Così, even La bohème!

Reserve your place by calling Tri-Cities Opera at
